CBD oil and other CBD-containing products are being promoted as a natural, organic solution for a variety of women’s health issues. Many claims are made by sellers of these goods: CBD has relaxing benefits on sleep, mood, and anxiety; it relieves hot flashes and promotes bone density by balancing menopause’s hormonal shifts; and it has anti-inflammatory characteristics that clear skin, treat acne, and soothe roscoe. It’s recommended for bloating and mood swings, which are common PMS symptoms. CBD-infused lubricants, on the other hand, claim to increase arousal and sexual pleasure. So, how much of what you’ve read is accurate?
What is CBD, for starters?
Cannabis plants contain a large amount of CBD (like hemp and marijuana). CBDvape oils, as well as capsules and powders, are available in a variety of strengths and formats. It is inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin. Pure CBD products, unlike marijuana, do not cause euphoria. THC, a distinct component of marijuana, induces euphoria in users.
Is there any evidence that CBD has therapeutic properties?
There isn’t a lot of information on the medical advantages of CBD yet, mainly due to the difficulty of studying it due to marijuana regulations. It’s important to remember that little high-quality research has been conducted until additional information becomes available.
- The Food and Medication Administration (FDA) approved a CBD-based drug to treat uncommon forms of pediatric epilepsy in 2018. This drug has been demonstrated to lessen the frequency of seizures in randomized clinical studies (see here and here).
- CBD has been proven to help with anxiety in a few trials, but they were tiny and of poor quality (see here and here).
- CBD may have anti-inflammatory effects on oil-secreting glands in the skin, according to some laboratory studies on human cells. This could have implications for acne and other inflammatory skin diseases, but more research is needed to be sure. While CBD in skin products is unlikely to cause harm, the majority of doctors think that there are more effective and well-studied drugs and therapies for acne and inflammatory skin problems.
- It’s unclear what other CBD benefits might exist. CBD does not boost sex drive, reduce pain, treat depression or mood disorders, relieve PMS symptoms such as bloating and cramps, or relieve menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, according to high-quality research. This could change as additional research is conducted, but for the time being, the verdict is still out.
Is CBD a safe product?
• In a nutshell, CBD appears to be safe for the majority of people. However, there aren’t enough thorough studies or long-term data to confirm that a wide range of CBD products is safe for everyone. There is no evidence that CBD is safe during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in immunocompromised patients, for example.
• Because CBD products aren’t regulated by the FDA like medicines, there’s a lot of difference in quality and, perhaps, safety.
• Testing reveals that many items’ quality and dose is suspect. Only about a third of the items examined had the quantity of CBD indicated on the label, according to one study. Another study of 84 CBD products purchased online found that nearly a quarter of them had less CBD than advertised. THC (the psychoactive ingredient) was also discovered in 18 of the items.
Is there a risk of negative effects when using CBD?
• CBD may induce dry mouth, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and tiredness as well as other side effects. It also has the potential to interact with other medications, such as blood thinners and anti-seizure medications. It’s best to see your doctor before beginning to use CBD products.
• Take-out food
• There are a lot of extravagant product claims about CBD’s advantages for women out there, but there isn’t any high-quality research to back them up. CBD oil and other CBD-based products are unregulated. It’s conceivable that the product you’re purchasing is fake or tainted. Consult your doctor or healthcare professional before taking CBD, especially if you want to CBD vape or swallow it.
